Definition
A woolen spinning mill is a production facility or spinning process for manufacturing voluminous, relatively coarse yarns known as woolen yarns. The fibers are not combed parallel to one another but are instead processed in a more disordered state, so that short fibers and fibers of varying lengths are retained. This produces yarns with a loose, fluffy structure and intentional irregularities.
Use in the textile industry
Woolen yarns are typically used for warm, soft textiles such as knitwear, blankets, tweed, and milled fabrics. Unlike worsted spinning, woolen spinning does not involve combing out the short fibers, which means shorter fibers can also be utilized economically.
