Definition
A spinning mill is a facility in which yarns are produced from fibers. In several processing steps, the fibers are cleaned, parallelized, drawn down, and finally twisted into yarn. Depending on the yarn produced, a distinction is made between, among others, woolen spinning mills and worsted spinning mills.
Use in the textile industry
The spinning mill stands at the beginning of the textile chain and establishes key properties of the finished textile through yarn production. Processes such as ring spinning, as well as more modern methods, determine the count, strength, and evenness of the yarns produced.
