Definition
A component is a part of the finished product. It has already reached its final form. As a rule, a component is assigned a specific function within the overall product.
Use in the textile industry
Components are used in the textile industry in the manufacture of technical textiles, apparel, and home textiles. Typical examples are pre-assembled closure elements such as zippers and buttons, sewn-in stiffening elements, or molded cushion carriers, each fulfilling a defined mechanical or aesthetic function in the finished product. Components are usually manufactured separately or purchased externally and are integrated into the overall product only in a later production step.
