Cellulose is the main component of plant cell walls. It serves as the base material for so-called cellulose fibers. These include natural plant fibers such as cotton and linen, as well as regenerated fibers such as viscose.

Cellulose fibers are absorbent, skin-friendly, and easy to dye, which makes them widely used in apparel, home textiles, and hygiene textiles. Whether as a natural fiber or a regenerated fiber, the properties can be significantly influenced by the origin and the manufacturing process.
